In recent years, start-ups have been responsible for many impulses for the imaging segment. Best known examples include EyeEm, Instagram, Pinterest, SnapChat and YouTube. There are also a large number of less known companies that developed new ideas for pictures and their applications. The aim of the PIV start-up initiative is to support creative minds by offering them possibilities to network with each other and with established players. Start-ups can learn, for example, whether their idea is promising, which companies might be interested to work as cooperation partners and “accelerators”, where investment funds could be available, and what they can learn from their peers. The upcoming photokina will be a particularly important platform for PIV’s start-up initiative. In the new photokina futurezone, numerous start-ups will be given an opportunity to present themselves to the audience at the show.
