The FinePix XP170 features a Wireless Image Transfer function that makes it easy to connect with Android smartphones/tablets or Apple’s iPhone/iPad for immediate transmission of the pictures to Facebook and other platforms. For this function, the Fujifilm Photo Receiver app is required, which is available free from the Android/iOS app stores. To upload the pictures, users simple push a button and the images are transferred to the smartphone/tablet, ready for uploading to social networking sites.
Compared with the Finepix XP50, underwater photographers can dive twice as deep with the FinePix XP170, which can shoot in depths of up to (of better: down to) 10m. The camera is also shock, dust and sand proof, and works at low temperatures down to -10°C. Its Fujinon 28-140mm (35mm equivalent) 5x wide optical zoom lens comes with a water repellent coating to prevent water droplets spoiling the pictures.
The FinePix XP170 is equipped with a 14-mega-pixel CMOS sensor with sensor shift image stabilization and offers a wide ISO range from 100 to 3200. Continuous shooting is possible at a rate of up to 10fps. The camera captures Full HD1080p movies capture at 30fp, which can be used als under water. Its micro HDMI connection allows for quick, simple connection with the TV set for instant reviews.
