Olympus, Hitachi-Maxell and Sanyo

The new magneto-optical (MO) disc has a diameter of 5 cm and a capacity of 730 MB, sufficient for about 1,800 pictures at 2-megapixel resolution or for 20 minutes of movie recording with 320 x 240 pixels. Cameras employing the new storage medium will not be marketed before summer 2000. The three manufacturers will offer the new format also to other manufacturers.
