Before he set up his own business, Imaging Power, under the impact of the digital revolution in the photographic industry in 2002, Freund spent many years as Technical Director and Member of the Executive Board of the Procinè Laboratory in Wädenswil. In addition, he was Managing Director of the two professional laboratories Picture Service Gwerder in Zurich and PPP in Préverenges. At Imaging Power, Freund first focused on selling kiosk solutions and advised retailers on the development of digital imaging services. Through the cooperation with Noritsu and its Europan distributor, Mümken Sales GmbH, he was later able to offer a complete range of photo printing equipment – first in Switzerland and from 2012 in Austria. In the summer of this year, Freund began marketing Noritsu equipment in the south of France, whose beautiful landscapes and culinary delights he also appreciated personally.
Throughout his career, Freund delivered numerous speeches at international symposia and conferences, building a large circle of friends. In its obituary, fotointern quoted from the last interview, which Freund had given in January this year: "The most important thing for me – not only in the future but always – is the human who must be at the center of all our efforts. The customer who comes to the store is someone looking for personal advice. It’s about the individual – and secondarily about a business. The employee is our most important partner, whose promotion and training must be the central concern of every business owner. This is the best investment … As long as the focus is on people, we are on the winning side! "
Kurt Freund will be greatly missed in our industry. We will miss him, too.
