Fujifilm Europe to move to Ratingen

Fujifilm Europe has announced that, in Fall 2021, it will move its headquarters from Düsseldorf, Germany, where the company has been located since 1983, to the City of Ratingen in the north of the capital of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia. According to a press release, the company has rented 10,000 sq.m. over three floors in the “The Square” office building that is currently under construction. „The Square” is part of the “Schwarzbach Quartier” campus, which is located approximately 10 km from Düsseldorf Airport and, once completed, will accomodate offices and a hotel in a total area of 82,000 sq.m.

Fujifilm Europe expects the new company headquarters to offer the best possible combination of space utilization, infrastructure, technology, energy efficiency and sustainability. In addition to offices for around 400 employees, the location will also accomodate several exhibition and demo rooms as well as an Open Innovation Hub of Fujifilm. The latter will build on the existing hubs in Tokyo, Silicon Valley and the Netherlands and will enable business partners to gain first-hand experience with fundamental core technologies from Fujifilm as well as with new technologies, materials and innovative products under development.

“Fujifilm has changed dramatically over the past 20 years, from a photo film manufacturer to a diversified, multi-technology company that researches, develops and markets our technologies and services in a number of business areas – including healthcare,” commented Peter Struik, Managing Director of Fujifilm Europe GmbH: “Such a change requires our reflection on future ways of working, strengthening cooperation between teams, addressing future needs of Fujifilm and effectively presenting to business partners. I hope that this new strategic headquarters for Fujifilm in Europe will both inspire existing and future employees and customers – and enable our company to continue growing. ”

The Schwarzbach Quartier in Ratingen is a project by InfraRed Capital Partners, an international investment company for real estate and infrastructure projects; Cube Real Estate was commissioned as project developer.
