While sales of Nokia‘s Devices and Services unit declined 19.6 percent to Euro 6.92 billion (US-$ 10.31 billion) year on year in the third quarter, the company recorded a plus of 5.0 percent compared with the second quarter 2009, reflecting an improved demand environment for mobile devices, according to Nokia.
In the first nine months of 2009, Nokia‘s net sales decreased 24 percent to Euro 29 billion (US-$ 43.2 billion); operating profit decreased 99 percent to Euro 46 million (US-$ 83.4 million), due to significant operating losses of the company‘s Navteq and Nokia Siemens Networks businesses. Operating profit of the Devices & Services business decreased 59 percent to Euro 2.095 billion (US-$ 3.12 billion).
