The JCII has changed its name.

The Japan Camera and Optical Instruments Inspection and Testing Institute was established in 1954 for the purpose of inspecting cameras prior to export. In recent years, JCII has responded to the rapidly changing environment for optical instruments through the integration of hardware and software. Against this background, JCII will now focus its efforts on the operation of the JCII Camera Museum, Library and Photo Salon and other cultural activities, which will serve to educate and inspire people everywhere on the subject of photography. Mayumi Moriyama continues as President of the institute.
