In this way, the new Cyber-shot QX100 turns every Android/iOS smartphone into a true premium camera, with a performance that corresponds almost exactly to that of Sony’s successful Cyber-shot RX100 II. The camera is fitted with a large 20.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor with an 1-inch diagonal, and has a fast Zeiss lens (f/1.8–4.9) with a focal length range of 28–100 mm (35 mm equivalent). The camera captures videos in MP4 format with a resolution of 1,440 x 1,080/30p, which, although somewhat less than the Full HD capability of the RX 100 II, makes it easier to share MP4 videos because of the smaller data volume. The Cyber-shot QX100 is operated primarily via the smartphone. There is also a release button and adjusting ring directly on the camera.
The smaller Cyber-shot QX10 is equipped with an 18.2 MP Exmor R sensor and a 25–250 mm (35 mm equivalent) zoom lens. The Superior iAuto mode ensures the right settings according to the subject, so that outstanding photos can be taken even without any prior experience. The performance of the Cyber-shot QX10 essentially corresponds to that of Sony’s Cyber-shot WX200. It features optical image stabilization with SteadyShot and the capability to capture video sequences in MP4 format with a resolution of 1,440 x 1,080/30p.
