Sony will introduce D-SLRs under new “Alpha” brand

In January, Sony took over certain assets of Konica Minolta’s SLR business, after the Japanese traditional manufacturer had announced to withdraw from the photo business. The new Sony SLRs, which will hit the market this summer, will be compatible with Konica Minolta’s Maxxum/Dynax lens mount system, which will be renamed Alpha mount system by Sony. The company points out that the new SLRs will combine Konica Minolta’s expertise in camera manufacturing with Sony’s technology and device know-how developed from its video and compact digital still camera lineup. These include CCD and CMOS imaging sensors, image processing technologies and technologies to achieve compact and light designs. More information on the upcoming Sony Alpha D-SLRs will be available step by step on the newly created website http://www.sony.net/dslr.
