Pentax announces shock and waterproof digital compact camera

The 12.1 megapixel Optio W80, with an internal 5X zoom lens, can withstand depths up to 16 feet. The camera has a one-inch body and 2.5-inch LCD with antireflective coating. A special coating applied to the mineral crystal cover of the internal zoom lens helps repel water, grime and finger marks. The camera is coldproof to sub-freezing temperatures of 14 degrees F (-10 degrees C). Other features include HD movie capture up to 1280-by-720 pixels, face detection, smile detection and close focusing.

Available in Cardinal Red, Azure Blue and Gunmetal Gray, the Optio W80 will be available in July 2009. To help keep the Optio W80 at hand, Pentax offers a custom designed clear protective skin and a comfortable floating wrist strap.
