Noritsu launches new minilab series at PMA@CES

Featuring high-quality laser technology, the QSS38 series includes two models to target different market segments. The QSS-3800 employs a 300 dpi laser engine that produces high-quality pictures at a speed of 740 prints (4 x 6") per hour. The QSS-3801HD boasts Noritsu’s high-definition 640 dpi laser engine that takes the print quality to an even higher level offering outstanding color rendition and excellent image depth to meet even professional image quality requirements. Both units can cope with paper widths of up to 305 mm (12") with a maximum print length of 914.4 mm (36"), enabling operators to provide a wide variety of picture products at an impressive capacity of 420 prints per hour in 8 x 10" and 350 prints per hour in 10 x 12" formats (both models). The maximum print format of 305 x 914.4 mm (12 x 36“) allows the production of high-value large format and poster pictures.

The Noritsu QSS-38 series can cope with thin photo paper (160 micrometers), making it perfect for the production of value-added items such as postcards, covers for hardcover albums and photobook pages. With its new space-saving design, the QSS-38 easily fits event into small shops. On the top of the unit, a wide flat surface makes it possible to place the EZ Controller right on the machine. As a result, the complete minilab takes up 40 percent less space than other models with the EZ Controller placed on a separate table.

The EZ Controller takes care of all data processing, from print order management to color correction of the individual images. Noritsu’s proprietary “AccuSmart” technology automatically corrects color, backlit scenes, lens correction and also offers noise reduction and red-eye removal. The software can also process raw images and then apply AccuSmart technology to turn them into ultra high-quality prints.

As a unique feature, the EZ Controller software is capable of interrupting orders in process to give preference to urgent pictures. LED lamps on the order sorter indicate which orders have been interrupted and in which trays the respective prints can be found.

For user-friendly, smooth operation the QSS-3801 comes with a built-in colorimeter, which automatically measures the setup print after it comes out of the dryer, eliminating the need for manual operations. Both models feature a dual magazine system, enabling the operator to offer a wide variety of of prints or run large number of single formats without changing magazines.
