New at photokina 2008: Underwater Imaging World

First-time exhibitors from the underwater photography sector and established companies from the photography and imaging industry will be showing enthusiasts of this trend how they can shoot good images underwater so that they can impress friends and families with the photos made during diving excursions.

On each day of the event, the sector’s “stars” will appear on stage to talk about their experiences and give valuable tips on underwater photography. Visitors can test cameras in a pool under real-life conditions. Professional scuba divers will be on hand to provide visitors who find the right equipment with valuable tips on using digital cameras in underwater sports.

Hobby scuba divers who have already had some experience with underwater photography will be able to bring their pictures along to have them judged by international underwater photographers, such as Todd Essick and Steve Jones. The star photographers will also be available for discussions and will help visitors optimize their images. Essick, who has been one of the top underwater photographers for many years, will also give tips every day on how to make perfect underwater photographs.

The offerings of the Underwater Imaging World will be rounded out by fascinating presentations, breathtaking films, and photo shows, in which professionals from the sector will be providing concrete help. Naturally, visitors to photokina will also be given the opportunity to photograph pretty “nymphs” frolicking in the water.
