More than 2,500 visitors marvel at technology and products at CeWe Color

“I never thought that producing a CeWe Photo Book would be so complex. What impressedme most was the precision with which CeWe Color handles all its customers’ orders. And the result is these fantastic photo books. You have to see it to believe it,” Thomas Bielefeld enthuses about his visit to CeWe Color in Oldenburg. “For me, the highlight was the personal attendance. During a talk, the speaker even told us that CeWe Color has just over 150 IT employees. I never thought that the production process would be so complex. It’s amazing how much software is involved in this process!”

Just like Thomas Bielefeld, many other visitors, including the Thedinghausen photographic society, found out what it means to operate Europe’s leading photo lab and largest digital printing works for personalised photo products with a production area covering 20,000 square metres. On peak days more than five million colour prints are developed in the production plant in Oldenburg alone. Every day 5,000 retail partners in Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, North-Rhine Westphalia and Holland and Scandinavia are supplied from Oldenburg. At the production location in Oldenburg, 850 employees operate highly automated industrial production facilities. Here CeWe Color uses state-of-the-art technology, with some of the machines developed by the company itself, in order to achieve a high level of efficiency and first-class quality products.

After the tour of the plant each visitor took home a personal souvenir in the form of a photo of the welcome and the guided tour. A personal group leader answered any questions that the participants had. This meant that, in small groups of up to 15 people, each visitor – whether young or old – could discover for themselves many exciting elements of the world of photography. Dr.Rolf Hollander, CEO of the CeWe Color Group, welcomed the visitors personally and now sums up: “We never expected the response to be so huge, and we are delighted about the strong interest shown by the visitors in our work and in digital photo production.”

Good news for those who have so far not been able to take part in a tour of the factory: because the 15 events in July and July were so successful, CeWe Color is now inviting all the citizens of Oldenburg and its surrounding areas to participate on other dates set for October and November.
