Leica announces growth in the first half of the fiscal year

The result of the group declined Euro 2.4 million to a loss of Euro 9.6 million in line with the management expectations, the company said, citing increased costs for personnel, the introduction of new products and fiscal effects.

According to a press release, Leica will introduce ten new products in the Photo and Sport Optics business units during the current fiscal year. CEO Rudolf Spiller commented: “Particularly due to the successful market entry of our new system cameras Leica S2, M9 and X1, we are recording a large number of orders, which will result in a significant increase in sales in the second half of the fiscal year.”

While Leica pointed out that it is extremely difficult to forecast the result for the current fiscal year, the management expects a slightly negative EBIT for the full year.
