In memoriam: Popular Photography

The publication of the last news on the magazine’s website popphoto.com is scheduled for March 10, 2017, though the page will remain online for some time.

During its nearly 80 year history, Popular Photography, in short PoP, always focused on the interests of the amateur photographers. The magazine was highly respected both by its readers and the photo and imaging industry, although the latter sometimes had to fear the sharp pen of the PopPhoto journalists. The list of the magazine’s editors and writers reads like a Who’s Who of high-level American photo journalism and includes legendary names like Herbert Keppler, Norman Lipton, Jason Schneider, Bob Schwalberg and Norman Rothschild, who reviewed the cameras, films, accessories and pictures of their times with high expertise and healthy critizism. Popular Photography also featured leading professional photographers who not only published great pictures in the magazine, but also shared their knowledge and perspectives with the readers. Farewell. Popular Photography. We join the crowd who is already missing you.
