Prior to joining the Agfa Board, Hujer headed the company’s lab equipment division in Munich. Under his leadership, Agfa-Gevaert developed the legendary MSP printer, which made thw company the unchallended leader in the worldwide wholesale lab equipment market. Hujer was also instrumental in developing the Agfa CRT, the world’s first printer capable of exposing digital images on silver-halide photo paper.
From 1996 to 1999, Friedrich Hujer was a member of the Board of the Association of the Photochemical Industry (today I&P Europe) and became its Chairman in 1997. In this function, he was also member of the Board of the German Photographic Industry Association and served as its Chairman from 1999 to 2001. 1998, the Lord Major of Cologne awarded Hujer with the golden photokina needle. In 2003, the US association I3A honored Friedrich Hujer with the exlusive leadership award.
During his outstanding career, Hujer not only worked successfully for Agfa-Gevaert, but also contributed to the benefits of the whole imaging industry, the German Photographic Industry Association and the global fair photokina. He will be remembered not only for his outstanding achievements in the photo and imaging industry, but also for his fairness and honest character.
