IFA 2010 announces keynote speakers

Executives from two leading media companies will speak to critical questions about 3D TV sets and content on Friday, September 3. At 3:00 pm, Bryan Burns, vice president of strategic business planning and development at ESPN, will address the challenges and alliances that need to be formed to drive consumer interest in 3D – and will share anecdotes from ESPN’s real-world experience launching 3D sports coverage.  Immediately following, at 3:30 pm, Bernhard Burgener, CEO of Constantin Medien AG, will discuss the role of cinema and sports in driving 3D media consumption. He is also expected to share background information on “Resident Evil,” a new 3D feature film due for release in Germany on September 16.

The keynotes on Saturday, September 4, will focus on the role of technological innovations in revolutionizing the home appliances market.At 9:45 am, Michael Rhodin, senior vice president, IBM Software Solutions Group, will speak about smart electronics and steps the industry must take to realize the vision of the networked home.  At 3:00 pm, Dr. Kurt-Ludwig Gutberlet, CEO of Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances, will call upon the industry to market a broader spectrum of ultra-energy-efficient appliances, and will present concrete approaches to bringing smart, networked appliances to consumers. 

Key CE topics at the 50th IFA will include HDTV, 3D TV, the networked home, TV/internet convergence and mobile media. The main home appliances topics will be design, ease of use and ergonomics. Cross-market trends include digital lifestyle, smart homes and efficient energy use.
