Located in the Great Hall of Les Ateliers SNCF of Les Rencontres d’Arles for the duration of the festival, July 4 – Sept. 18, the photo booth was designed by artist JR’s team and will be free to all festival attendees. The photos taken in the booth are printed on an HP Designjet Z6200 Photo Printer located on a bridge 12 meters (40 ft) above the festival floor and will float down to the attendees waiting below to be given to participants.
"Our history in the photo industry uniquely positions HP to be a part of this exciting artistic installation, in which printing plays such an important role," said François Martin, marketing director, Graphics Solutions Business, HP. "The HP Designjet printer delivers high-quality large format prints that participants will be proud to take home and exhibit. Photography in all its forms is a fantastic way to express emotion and humanity. This is what HP wants to support."
Designed for photo labs, digital print shops, advertising agencies, design firms and commercial printers, the HP Designjet Z6200 Photo Printer delivers photo-quality prints with a resolution of 2,400 dots per image and versatility for indoor applications from line drawings to photographic output to signage. It is up to 50 percent faster than its predecessor, the HP Designjet Z6100 Printer, with speeds as high as 139m2 (1,500 ft2) per hour. With HP Vivid Photo Inks, the HP Designjet Z6200 Photo Printer offers improved scratch resistance and gloss uniformity and the printer’s 8-ink system features HP Chromatic Red ink for greater ink efficiency.
HP will also showcase the new Large Format Photo Negative solution for the production of high-quality, black and white silver halide photo prints for the first time at Les Rencontres d’Arles 2011. Angel Albarran, professional photographer and HP large-format research and development engineer, will demonstrate the process during a conference titled, "The Best of Both Worlds: Digital Negatives for Black & White Silver Prints" on Tuesday, July 5 at 6 p.m. in Cour des Rencontres, Rue Fanton.
