Google to terminate Picasa

The easiest to access, modify and share photos or videos in a Picasa Web Album is to log in to Google Photos, since all the respective content is already there. From the Google Photos platform, users can continue to upload and organize their memories, as well as enjoy better ways to search and share their images.

Users who don’t want to use Google Photos or who still want to be able to view specific content, such as tags, captions or comments, will be offered a new place to access their Picasa Web Albums data. Google Photos will start rolling out these changes on May 1, 2016.

As of March 15, 2016, the Picasa desktop application will no longer be supported by Google. However, the software will continue to work as it does today, but there will be no future updates. Users who choose to switch to Google Photos can continue to upload photos and videos using the desktop uploader at photos.google.com/apps.
