GMG, supplier of high-end color management and proofing solutions, announces the new GMG ColorProof Automated bundle, consisting of the following products:
" GMG ColorProof (optionally as a 2-up, 4-up, 8-up or VLF version),
" GMG ProofControl without measuring instruments (software and label printer only).
The target group for the GMG ColorProof Automated bundle is users who already have a measuring instrument (EyeOne from GretagMacbeth or DTP 20 from X-Rite) or will be investing in the new HP DesignJet Z2100. The advantages of GMG ColorProof Automated are further enhanced when used in conjunction with the newly announced HP DesignJet Z2100.
The HP DesignJet Z2100, presented by HP at photokina 2006, is the first inkjet printer to feature an integrated measuring instrument. Together with GMG ColorProof Automated – the first proofing software to support the new printer – the HP DesignJet Z2100 offers the user significant advantages:
" The HP DesignJet Z2100, GMG ColorProof and GMG media are optimally integrated.
" This is the very first turnkey solution for remote proofing and automatic calibration.
" Automatic GMG ColorProof calibration, monitoring and recalibration of the HP DesignJet Z2100 ensures that every proof leaving the printer is a high-quality GMG contract proof. This proof can be repeated at any time, even on a different HP DesignJet Z2100 at any other location – prerequisites for increasingly important remote proofing scenarios.
" With the help of the internal spectrophotometer, every proof on the HP DesignJet Z2100 can be automatically verified by GMG ProofControl. The SWOP Proofing Bar and UGRA/FOGRA Media Wedge are supported and included with the standard bundle.
" Proofing to industry standards is extremely simple with GMG ColorProof and the HP DesignJet Z2100, and can be achieved quickly and easily, even by users without color management knowledge. With the HP DesignJet Z2100, GMG ColorProof supports the profiles of all common industry standards, such as ISO (ISO certification has already been granted), GRAcOL, SWOP, etc. The solution is rounded out by GMG ProofControl, which verifies proofs in a matter of seconds before they exit the printer.
" Total costs of operation are further improved. Fewer faulty proofs are printed, lowering proofing labor and materials, and further improving customer satisfaction. The integrated measuring instrument also reduces initial capital costs by eliminating the cost of purchasing a dedicated measuring instrument.
"Up to now, contract proofing has been inaccessible for a major section of the potential market – in the agency sector, for example – where in-depth color management know-how required to reliably produce contract proofs was often cost-prohibitive," says Robert Weihing, Managing Director of GMG. "With GMG ColorProof Automated and the HP DesignJet Z2100, the way is now clear for numerous users to easily produce contract proofs using an automated system. The fear of having to handle ‘complex’ measuring instruments, the constant pressure of making sure that the output device is correctly calibrated, creating complex profiles – all that and more are now things of the past," says Weihing.
The GMG/HP solution will be demonstrated at Photokina on the booth of Rauch iT GmbH, hall 10.1, booth C031/C033.
