Fujifilm to expand digital camera business in Vietnam

The establishment of subsidiaries in Ukraine, South Korea and Indonesia last year has enabled Fujifilm to facilitate the expansion of the digital camera business. With a large population of approximately 88 million, Vietnam has achieved steady economic growth of 6 – 7% per year and is expected of high potential demand for digital cameras. Fujifilm has worked through local distributors to sell its digital camera products, but has now decided to setting up its own sales & distribution base to realize further expansion of the digital camera business in Vietnam.

The local subsidiary, “Fujifilm Medical Systems Vietnam Co., Ltd.”, established in September last year for the marketing of medical products, will be re-named as “Fujifilm Vietnam Co., Ltd.” with the addition of the Digital Camera Business Division.

The new subsidiary will facilitate development of digital camera sales strategies dynamically by expanding sales channels and reinforcing advertising activities with focusing on the high-end “X Series” products including the premium interchangeable lens camera, “Fujifilm X-Pro1”, which has proven to be very popular since introduction because of Fujifilm’s dedicated attention to high image quality and texture.
