Fujifilm to cease production of cinema films

The dramatic decrease in demand for cinema films during the last few years had become far too great a burden to be covered by corporate efforts, Fujifilm said in a press release. As a result, production and sales of color positive and negative film, black & white positive/negative film, intermediate film, sound recording film, high contrast panchromatic film and chemicals (Japan only) will be terminated. Fujifilm will, however, continue to manufacture and sell professional and amateur photographics still film.

In the cinema sector, Fujifilm will focus on its acclaimed lineup of Fujinon lenses for digital motion picture cameras and projectors, color management software and systems for archiving of digital images.
