Fujifilm said it will maintain its quality standards and delivery services for all customers by shifting the production volumes to its facilities in Gera, Thuringia, and Rostock, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The company will also use the capacities of Fujicolor Benelux in Steenbergen, the Netherlands, to serve Western parts of Germany.
In a press release, Fujifilm pointed out that the demand for prints declined to 50 percent of the 2001 volume in 2009, adding that sales of photobooks and other value-added photo products are rapidly increasing. To take advantage of these growing segments, Fujifilm plans further investments in the photofinishing business in Germany.
