According to a press release, FotoTV is the world’s biggest WebTV (or InternetTV) on the topic of photography. Its first incarnation, the German platformFotoTV.de and the recently launched English website, FotoTV.com, together boast a collection of over 600 videos that would interest all avid photographers. A large part of the videos offered on FotoTV are through subscription – an internet-based-paid-content model that a few years ago seemed impossible to achieve. Latest trends in the internet, particularly the paid-news model adopted by big publishing companies, is surely paving the way for more such business ventures.
“This is great news for all of us,” said Marc Ludwig, the founder of FotoTV. “Four years ago, when FotoTV was in its infancy, many people forecast that such a model would not work in the internet. Today, we are a profitable company with thousands of paying subscribers…growing bigger and stronger with time. The nomination for the German IPTV Award impressively recognize our concept…!”
”FotoTV’s success metrics are end user focus, strict cost management, regular update of content, and last but not the least, a never-ending passion for the subject itself,” Ludwig added. “What makes FotoTV unique is that all our videos are self produced and can be found exclusively on our website. More than 75% of our subscribers claim that our annual subscription price is fair.”
”Now we hope we will win the award,” Ludwig concluded. ”Even if we don’t, we are still delighted and honored to be recognized this way”.
