Eastman Kodak Company today introduced the KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Digital Station — a new addition to its digital picture kiosks that establishes a new category for affordable, medium volume retail digital photo printing. The KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Digital Station satisfies an increasing consumer demand for fast, quality digital prints and offers the perfect digital printing solution for retailers wanting to enter the digital printing market by providing award winning* Kodak technology that combines reliability, efficiency and impressive functionality.
Including the full range of unique Kodak technologies, the self-service KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Digital Station allows users to quickly and intuitively locate and print quality prints. With a 17" touch screen monitor and the ability to print out from the full range of input methods, including memory card, USB input and Bluetooth connectivity, the GS Digital station prints in an astonishing 11 seconds and provides 750 4×6 prints per roll.
The KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Digital Station comes with the new V1.2 software that offers consumers an even better, more intuitive interface helping reduce the ‘at kiosk time’ by up to 40% per user. The software makes it easier for images to be located, even across large sets of images, plus provides a shopping cart workflow similar to online purchases, making it easy for the consumer to purchase as many products as they would like. The V1.2 software also provides a diverse range of printed products giving the user plenty of scope for creativity and flexibility – it enables instant double prints, offers creative features such as greeting cards and calendars, and has a Picture CD feature that can instantly reproduce an entire set of image, video and audio files.
Kodak Perfect Touch
Providing the consumer with assured Kodak quality, the KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Digital Station uses KODAK Perfect Touch technology, which automatically adjusts the digital image to produce the best quality print – reducing red eye, reproducing fewer shadows and providing richer detail and more vibrant colours. Kodak Xtralife paper also gives the consumer a quality assurance of waterproof, wipe-able and stain resistant pictures helping their treasured images longer lasting.
Philip Cullimore, Kodak’s Consumer Printing Systems Divisional Manager, commented: "While retailers are guaranteed exceptional quality, reliability and profitability from the KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Digital Station, the consumer is also guaranteed the highest quality Kodak prints. Establishing a brand new category in the market, the KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Digital Station opens a new offering for digital photo printing solutions."
Accepting the Kodak Kiosk card, the KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Digital Station enables the consumer to have true self-service printing combined with the option to pre-pay for printing. This consumer flexibility is combined with full flexibility for the retailer as the kiosk provides enhanced connectivity options, in to the Kodak Picture Kiosk family. The KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Station allows upgrades with additional external printers and scanners, which can be networked with other kiosks, mini-labs and wholesale labs. It also allows connectivity with Remote Business Manager, plus accepts the Ingenico i5100 payment terminal.
DVD Writer/Dispenser
The next generation of DVD and CD writers/dispensers are now available for use with Kodak kiosks. Providing an effective solution for self-service consumer CD authoring, this new version requires minimal interaction from store personnel for increased efficiency. For the first time, this model has the ability to author DVDs, preparing retailers for the future as DVD technology becomes more relevant to imaging. Also, with a significantly lower hardware cost than previous models, retailers can enjoy a quicker return of investment without compromising performance.
Launched at Photokina 2006, the KODAK Picture Kiosk GS Digital Station will be available for installation in Europe beginning October 2006.
