Casio began exporting to China in the 1970s and established its Beijing Representative Office in 1985. In the 1990s, it established manufacturing and marketing joint ventures, one each for its calculator, electronic musical instrument and timepiece businesses. Later, in 2003 the company established Casio (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., which primarily sells digital cameras, electronic dictionaries, calculators and electronic musical instruments, and in 2006 Casio (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., which sells timepieces, seeking to accommodate strong growth in the Chinese market. Since then, the efforts of these two sales companies have resulted in growing sales.
