Canon UK and Ireland appoints new Financial Director

In his new role, McNally will drive the business forward through increased sales and strong year-on-year growth as the economy recovers.He will be based at the UK headquarters in Reigate, Surrey.

Before joining Canon UK & Ireland, McNally held the position of European Tax and Financial Services Director at Canon Europe, where he set up a European tax department in 2001, to advise the business on a variety of pan-European projects and strengthen the whole approach to Tax Management in the EMEA region.  He also headed up the European Sarbanes-Oxley internal control initiative, which has successfully produced three years without any reported significant control deficiencies. ver the last five years McNally also led the European Mergers & Acquisitions group that has made a number of significant purchases across the EMEA region including the acquisition of two distributors in Portugal, leading to the creation of Canon Portugal in 2007 where he held the position of Managing Director.

Prior to joining Canon, McNally qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and then spent nine years working in the European head quarters of a major consumer electronics company.

Ed said of his appointment: “The experience I have gained from working at Canon Europe and Canon Portugal over the last eight years will be invaluable in my new role as Finance Director for the UK and Ireland. Migrating across to a local level will give me a new opportunity to get deeply involved with every department of the business, including supporting the local sales teams, HR, new business partnerships and investments, whilst still being part of the European organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in one of Canon Europe’s biggest markets.”
