Canon rolls out inkjet cartridge recycling scheme in Europe

Canon’s inkjet recycling scheme allows customers to recycle genuine Canon inkjet cartridges for free and ensures 100% of each cartridge is diverted from landfill. According to Canon, more than 97% of each cartridge is reused and recycled into other products with the remaining 3% being used to generate energy from waste.

In order to participate, customers can visit a dedicated area on the Canon website and select their home country. After completing a quick and easy form, Canon will supply freepost return envelopes in which the cartridges can be returned for recycling.

Canon already runs a toner cartridge recycling scheme in 20 countries (16 in Europe). This has been in existence since 1990 and has resulted in the collection of more than 287,000 tonnes of toner cartridges globally, saving 185,000 tons of new raw materials and 430,000 tons of CO2.
