Canon and Océ introduce native IPDS support for imagePRESS C7010VPS series

Within the last couple of years, the industry has witnessed a significantly growing share of color in established digital printing markets like transaction and direct mail. Driven by the adoption of TransPromo documents and the introduction of new high speed continuous feed digital color printers, the transactional print market is expected to undergo a shift towards full color production over the next 5-10 years. "And there is clearly a demand for cutsheet solutions as well, used as proofing system or back-up for continuous feed systems for very short runs," says Jan Verschaeren, Executive Vice President, Océ Document Printing. "This helps transaction print and direct mail houses to shorten preparation times and take on high margin short-runs."

Transaction and direct mail environments demand delicate data handling and complete integration into existing AFP workflows. Real-time feedback between host and printer is vital for data security ─ the entry ticket for a real transactional print solution

Transactional print providers, direct mail houses and commercial printers can benefit from expanding their services with the hybrid print approach enabled by the Océ PRISMAsync controller. Due to cyclical print volumes, transactional printers are occasionally idle. To boost utilization, applications beyond transaction printing can be produced on the Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS series. Examples include printroom jobs and outsourced collaterals. This is enabled by on-the-fly switching from transaction printing mode (IPDS) to document printing mode (PS/PDF).

The newest release of the Océ PRISMAsync color controller with native IPDS support for the imagePRESS C7010VPS series enables users to benefit from secure and productive cutsheet print solutions for high cutsheet print volumes. Fully integrated into the Océ transaction workflow, the cutsheet system is a solid proposition for continuous feed users looking for a cost-efficient solution to validate the production run, to produce high quality financial reports such as security deposit reports and special/mixed media applications and reprints.
