Until end of this year, the previous Kodak labs in Bochum, Markkleeberg/Leipzig, Mühlenbeck/Berlin, Schwabach and Waldkirch will be closed down plus another lab that will be announced in the near future. 850 employees will be affected, 700 of them at the above mentioned locations.
According to a BHG press release, these measures have become necessary due to the significant decrease in the analog business and the dramatic change in digital photography. The company is speeding up the restructuring process to reposition itself in the developing and printing market and to extend its existing leadership in production efficiency and to increase its investments in digital technologies. The BHG Color Print Group comprises the former V-Dia and Kodak Fotoservice photofinishing operations in Germany and claims for a marketshare of 25 percent.
