Felix Schoeller Group responds to corona pandemic

The Felix Schoeller Group, Osnabrück, has announced a bundle of measures to respond to the falling demand for the company's specialty papers due to the corona crisis. According to a press release, the manufacturer has adjusted its production capacities and implemented short-time working across all German manufacturing plants after the Easter holidays. Approximately 2,100 of the company's 3,600 employees worldwide are affected.

Positive news, on the other hand, are coming from the Group’s joint venture company in China, where production is now being restarted after it was interrupted due to the pandemic.

The Felix Schoeller Group started 2020 on schedule but was now increasingly feeling the effects of the corona pandemic on the markets, the company said in a press release. Since the number of incoming orders was declining, paper machines and finishing units would be shut down in a targeted manner.

"The current sales situation presents us with great challenges," said Hans-Christoph Gallenkamp, CEO of the Felix Schoeller Group. “We reacting to this by flexibly adjusting our production volume to demand. In this way we are creating important conditions for the further economic stability of the company. "

Gallenkamp added that Felix Schoeller at an early stage initiated measures to protect employees from infections with the Corona virus. For example, hygiene standards had been strengthened, cleaning chains had been expanded, and new rules for meetings and social interaction have been issued. A large number of employees work from home.
